'We are at an advantage' - Alan King happy after quickfire double at Ludlow
Monday: Ludlow
Alan King's rich run of form continued after five-year-olds Finest View and Midnights Legacy contributed towards a double on the card for the Wiltshire trainer.
Tom Cannon navigated Finest View in the 2m mares' novice hurdle, before completing the brace with Midnights Legacy in the 2m handicap hurdle.
"Most of my horses appreciate the better ground and now that it is drying up we are at an advantage. It has been a wonderful 12 months and I am very happy with them," said King, who is enjoying the best form of his campaign with 12 winners over jumps this month.
"Finest View took a little bit of time to race properly, she has been a bit keen, but settled beautifully today with good pace and picked up well. There is not a lot of her and she's not a filly that you can run regularly. I would imagine she'd have one more run this spring."
On Midnights Legacy, who scored a second win of the season, King added: "We gave him a winter break and if he had not won today then I would have been disappointed, so we needed that. We will see what the handicapper does but he might be one for Market Rasen in the summer."
Down to the wire
Tide Times scored a second successive victory of the season when landing the 3m Boyne Cup for trainer Ian Williams.
The eight-year-old was made to work for the win under Charlie Todd, but emerged on the right end of a photo-finish involving the Kim Bailey-trained Bobhopeornohope.
