Owner Terry Warner has fond memories of the Greatwood Hurdle and will attempt to win another with Sternrubin, who produced a gutsy display to land the 2m Listed hurdle.

Coral cut the Philip Hobbs-trained five-year-old to 10-1 (from 16) for the Stan James-backed contest – William Hill went 16-1 (from 25) – at Cheltenham in two weeks' time, when he will bid to emulate the Warner-owned pair Rooster Booster and Detroit City.

Ridden by Tom O'Brien, the son of Authorized made all to deny Instant Karma, who would have given Michael Bell a timely boost before Big Orange's Emirates Melbourne Cup tilt on Tuesday.
