It was a day for Mark Walsh to remember and his namesake Ruby to forget, as the former had a memorable 38-1 treble while the latter had the misfortune of suffering falls at the final obstacle on two short-priced favourites.

After the misfortune of Footpad departing late on in the Poplar Square Chase, Walsh set out on 13-8 favourite Saldier in the Grade 3 Fishery Lane Hurdle, came there with every chance coming to the final flight and was upsides the victor when coming down.

It left the way clear for Espoir D'Allen to come home almost alone to give the other Walsh and owner JP McManus the second leg of their treble.
