Victory for Germany as Moser raider Artistica lands Kilvington
German raiders tend to be few and far between in Britain but the colours of owner Gestut Brummerhof may become a more familiar sight following the impressive last-to-first victory of Artistica in the Listed EBF Weatherbys General Stud Book Online Kilvington Stakes.
The three-year-old filly, a second runner in Britain for trainer Dominik Moser, sat at the back of the 16-runner field – the joint-biggest in the history of the £40,000 contest – after being hampered at the start, but the daughter of Areion showed a fine turn of foot under Sam Hitchcott to beat Futoon by half a length at 33-1.
Although a Group 2 contest at Baden-Baden is the next target for Artistica, Brummerhof and Moser intend to return to Britain soon, with four-year-old filly Sugar Free due to contest the Listed EBF Stallions Cecil Frail Stakes at Haydock on May 27.
