Veteran Dica wins fifth race of season for owner-trainer Collins

Paul Collins is not one of racing's best-known names but he has achieved a remarkable feat this season by winning five handicap chases with 12-year-old Dica, whom he bought for £3,500.

Win number five came in the 2m handicap chase and, though having his first run since Boxing Day and up 22lb in the ratings since April, he galloped on with great resolution for in-form rider Ross Chapman to beat favourite Uno Valoroso by eight lengths.

"It's down to the horse," said Collins modestly. "He hadn't run since Boxing Day so I wasn't sure he was quite ready, but I'm based at Keith Reveley's yard so I have great facilities and have room for just six horses.
