Ultra consistent Panstarr steals the show at a rainy Listowel

It rained and rained, and then rained some more, for the all-Flat part of Listowel's festival, turning ground which was yielding at the start of the day to almost heavy by the finish – but for some horses, it proved character building.

One of those was Panstarr, who had made a respectable step up to stakes company without winning, before toughing it out for her first victory at this level when landing the feature Edmund & Josie Whelan Memorial Listowel Stakes.

In a competitive Listed contest, she got to the front before the straight and saw off a few challenges before holding off the last-gasp effort of Ship Of Dreams to score by a neck under Kevin Manning.
