Superheroes was the theme for Kempton’s bank holiday fixture and Sam Twiston-Davies was flying high on the exuberant Bagad Bihoue, who sailed over the fences to make a winning chase debut in the 2m4½f novice event.

Apart from one mistake down the back, Bagad Bihoue looked a natural, and when asked for a big one at the last put in a monstrous leap that had Twiston-Davies doing his best impression of Superman.

“He jumped so big at the last I almost came off,” said the rider, who predicted a good summer over fences awaited the winner.
