Mystifyingly, Phil 'the Cat' Tufnell never captained England in any of the 42 Test matches he played in and he is relishing the responsibility of skippering Britain in the BetBright Cup.

"I kept throwing my hat in the ring and it kept getting thrown back at me," he recalls. "Someone's decided to make me captain – what could possibly go wrong?"

The wily left arm spinner, now best known for his antics on Question Of Sport, admits to revelling more in the banter and the social aspect of racing than wrestling with the intricacies of the form book.
