Although the closing fillies' handicap was a race between just two runners, they could hardly have been more topically named, with Trouble And Strife getting the better of Brexitmeansbrexit.

Prescott, responsible for the 2-7 favourite and subsequent winner, declared he was very much against leaving the EU, while Mervyn Stewkesbury, who bred and owns Brexitmeansbrexit, is unsurprisingly a leaver – creating a political edge to what was a pretty uneventful race.

A cosy winner last time, Trouble And Strife led throughout but was given a small fright by Brexitmeansbrexit three furlongs out. However, that filly soon looked uncomfortable on the track and Luke Morris drove the odds-on shot out for a clear-cut win.
