Tizzard back in winning groove as Valhalla ends drought

After enduring a winnerless spell stretching back over a month, the Colin Tizzard-team finally emerged from the doldrums when Valhalla made all to land the 2m½f handicap hurdle.

With the stable having sent out 53 runners without success, there was a smile of relief on the face of Tizzard’s son and assistant Joe, who said: “It's taken a while but there's no doubt we had a bit of a bug in the yard late February and the horses are now bouncing back from that.

“But to be fair they were not all running badly as Fox Norton ran a blinder to be second in the Champion Chase and Native River did little wrong for a seven-year-old when third in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
