Title-chasing Shoemark puts pressure on Egan with double

Aidan O'Brien and Silvestre de Sousa – who on Wednesday rode his 200th winner of the year for good measure – have long since rubber-stamped their titles, but the battle for apprentice honours looks like going down to a photo finish.

Kieran Shoemark registered a double to reduce David Egan's lead in the title race to three, before both jockeys headed to ride at Kempton's evening meeting.

With just three days left in the competition, Shoemark is leaving no stone unturned as he heads north in pursuit of winners, riding at Newcastle on Thursday and Friday before finishing at Catterick on Saturday.
