Tithonus comes up trumps for Hogan in lucrative Rockingham

Few horses take in hurdles en route to mastering the craft of sprinting but Denis Hogan’s Tithonus charted that obscure path before recording his best day on a racecourse when he landed the €100,000 Tote Rockingham Handicap.

In fact, it was the six-year-old’s stamina that Hogan felt could be the winning of the five-furlong sprint, something he was keen to point out to Rory Cleary in the pre-race instructions.

“It’s funny, the last thing I said to Rory was to remember that the horse had won over seven furlongs at Galway and to make lots of use of him,” Hogan said.
