It takes a lot to stop a jump jockey and David Bass was back in the winner's enclosure just 13 days after smashing his cheekbone.

His face still carried the scars of his fall at Ascot but he was all smiles as he was presented with a bottle of champagne after landing the maiden hurdle on Thumb Stone Blues for Kim Bailey.

Bass is eagerly looking forward to riding stablemate Charbel, who takes on highly-touted Altior in the Grade 1 Racing Post Henry VIII Novices' Chase on the Tingle Creek Chase card at Sandown on Saturday.
