Sara Ender surpassed last season’s tally of one jumps winner when Belladinotte landed the 2m7½f novice handicap hurdle.

The 15-2 shot had finished no better than fifth in five starts for Mark Walford before running in a couple of point-to-points for her owner Andrew Nicholls.

The six-year-old outran odds of 33-1 on her first start for Ender at Southwell under Harry Bannister, and the same jockey helped her go one better to provide her trainer with a second winner of the season.

“She’s quite a quirky mare and we’ve just made her happy,” Ender told Sky Sports Racing. “She gets treated like the princess she is and we’ve just given her TLC. She’s blossomed.

“From our last five jumpers we’ve had a winner, three seconds and then another winner. They’re absolutely flying and that’s from three jumpers we’ve got for the summer.”

Super Scott strike-rate

Luke Scott made it two wins from as many rides for trainer Jennie Candlish this season when Dickens, a £7,000 purchase from Alan King in Doncaster last month, made a successful stable debut in the 2m conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle.

Course specialist

Les's Legacy had been beaten in three starts since winning over the same course and distance as the 2m4f handicap hurdle, but being reunited with Nathan Moscrop for the first time since that victory in March helped the Susan Corbett-trained eight-year-old record a fourth win at the track.

Veteran strikes

Cracking Destiny was the oldest runner in the feature 2m4f handicap chase by upwards of two years, but the 12-year-old defied his advancing years to score by a length and a half for Craig Nichol and Ewan Whillans.
