'They seem to enjoy a good scrap' - Noahthirtytwored continues fine West season
Thursday: Worcester
Trainer Adam West's good run of form with his jumpers continued when Noahthirtytwored brought up his hat-trick in the 2m handicap hurdle.
It was a brave ride by Lee Edwards as he was forced to split rivals approaching the final flight and, fortunately for the pair, the gap was there and the six-year-old knuckled down to win for the fourth time from his last five starts.
"He's been a bit of a tricky character but he's really getting the hang of things now," said West.
"They [horse and jockey] seem to enjoy a good scrap. He seems to find a bit of trouble every time he races but it always makes the horse knuckle down. He'll continue until the ground turns, we schooled him over fences and he's an exciting prospect."
It was a fifth winner from ten jumps runners this season for West – adding to a strong campaign on the Flat – but his recent success has still come as a surprise to the Epsom-based operator.
He added: "I'm delighted with how things are going, the jumps have really picked up and we have room for a couple more. A couple of owners keep texting me my stats and I can't quite believe them sometimes!"
Banker delivers
Boomtime Banker put in a remarkable performance to win the 2m4f novice handicap hurdle from 11lb out of the handicap under 3lb claimer Lilly Pinchin.
Double delight
Sam Twiston-Davies made the most of his three rides by recording a double, highlighted by a strong effort aboard the Neil Mulholland-trained Trolley Boy, who ran down Kanukankan late on in the 2m maiden hurdle. He initiated his double on Game Socks in the 2m7f handicap chase for trainer Richard Newland.
