Theflyingportrait put the seal on a season of high achievement as he thrillingly thwarted the hat-trick bid of Simply Ned in the £22,500 feature.

The hard-working grey defied another rise in the weights to clinch his sixth success of the year in the 2m1f handicap chase.

Making all, he kept on gamely on the run-in to hold off the challenge of 6-5 favourite Simply Ned by a neck.
