'The stars were aligned' - Kachy remembered as Dave Lowe's Amber Island bolts up
Friday: Lingfield
On the third anniversary of Kachy's explosive championships final win, owner Dave Lowe's green silks were back in front when Amber Island sprinted to victory in the 7f handicap under Rossa Ryan for trainer David Loughnane.
Kachy, the hugely popular four-time Lingfield winner for Lowe, sprung his owner to prominence, but tragically he was fatally injured at the track in 2020.
Lowe said: "When you see the colours you can't help but remember him, and the ease with which she won was typical of him. The stars were aligned today, she did it for him I think. It's such a great feeling."
Lowe regularly backs his horses and was rewarded this time as Amber Island, who won cosily by two and three quarter lengths, drifted from favouritism to a 5-1 starting price.
He added: "She drifted out to 13-2 at one point so I thought now was the time – I think it's a game the bookies play with me!"
Amber Island has raced almost exclusively on the all-weather in recent years, but connections could entertain a switch to turf at Chester's May meeting.
Honor impresses
The big sprint at Newcastle went the way of France, and the raiders also prospered at this meeting with Chantilly-based trainer Giuseppe Botti winning the 2m handicap with Honor And Pleasure.
The half-brother to Sea Of Class won easily under William Buick despite rearing at the start and racing keenly.
