'The main thing is to keep it going' - Jason Hart reaches 50 for the year
Monday: Ayr
Jason Hart is determined to continue his impressive form after he secured his 50th winner of the year when partnering Signora Camacho to victory in the 6f nursery.
The jockey, who registered 105 victories in 2021, has enjoyed a solid campaign and is thankful to trainer John Quinn, who has played a key role in his success.
"It’s a grand achievement and I have had some nice winners so far – the main thing is to keep it going," said Hart.
"John is a good supporter and you need the ammunition to ride, so when you’re on his horses you know you’re always in with a chance."
Quinn, who saddles Lord Riddiford in the 5f handicap on day one of Glorious Goodwood, added: "We’re happy with the season and although you’re always looking for the next winner, the horses have been running well."
"We were delighted Highfield Princess bagged the Duke of York and Mr Wagyu won at the Curragh. We have nice horses to run for the rest of the season, but you have to keep looking forward."
Placings reversed
The David and Nicola Barron-trained Grigadale was promoted to first place in the 7f handicap following a stewards' inquiry after suffering interference inside the last half-furlong when beaten a head by first-past-the-post Beltane, who was demoted to second.
Beltane’s jockey Shane Gray appeared to use his whip when his mount was already lugging left, giving Grigadale a significant bump which caused the four-year-old to lose momentum.
Smith strikes twice
Local trainer Mike Smith recorded a double on the card, headlined by Tilsitt winning the feature 1m2f handicap. His second victory came when Wrecked It Ralph landed the 5f handicap.
