The dream lives on. Despite an underwhelming performance by Gronkowski in winning the Listed £100,000 32Red Burradon Stakes, he will still take his chance in the Kentucky Derby in five weeks time.

Sent off at 13-8 to win his fourth race from four outings on the all-weather, he travelled well under Jamie Spencer but, after having to be switched towards the stands' side to get a run, his rider had to be quite serious on him to get the better of the progressive 89-rated Iconic Sunset by a length and a quarter.

Owned by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, the winner is trained by Jeremy Noseda, who said: "He'll run at Churchill Downs. It's been the dream since November and we are going to live that dream. I'm sure he'll go on dirt.
