Teenager Edmunds rides first winner on Gone With The Wind

The mile apprentice handicap will live long in the memory of 17-year-old Lewis Edmunds, who rode his first winner on Gone With The Wind.

Edmunds, from Bawtry near Doncaster and based with Kevin Ryan, returned to the winner's enclosure with a smile on his face and said: "That was fantastic, I'm over the moon."

Edmunds and the Rebecca Bastiman-trained five-year-old had a loose horse just ahead of them in this straight after Anna Hesketh was unseated from Drinks For Losers leaving the stalls, and Edmunds said: "I think the loose horse helped a little bit and just kept him fighting. He's a lovely horse, really genuine."
