Connections of Technician reckon they have found the formula to unlock his talent, which may allow the Geoffrey Freer winner to shine in the William Hill St Leger at Doncaster next month.

In winning the Unibet-backed Group 3 at Newbury, the Martyn Meade-trained colt earned quotes as low as 16-1 for the prestigious Classic after he wore down Morando.

Coral and Ladbrokes are a standout 33-1 and Meade's son and assistant Freddie said: "It's very difficult when you have a short amount of time to work these horses out and Technician has had only six runs, but a galloping track and a bit of juice have helped.
