Step back and admire as Bradstocks dig out another gem

Mark and Sara Bradstock, mildly eccentric but engaging, reminded us that given the weapon they can hit the toughest of targets when Step Back hosed up in the bet365 Gold Cup by 13 comfortable lengths. That is a lot of steps forward in a race of this ferocity.

Jamie Moore sent Step Back on at the fifth and from there it was merely about the order in which the pursuers followed him home.

Last time out Step Back dotted up by 16 lengths at the much-loved Norfolk gaff Fakenham, which is basically a left-handed speed skating track. But chasing is about jumping and galloping and the winner, undoubtedly a step ahead of the handicapper, is good at both.
