St Patrick's Day has become the traditional starting date for the year's action at Wexford, but it was hard to remember a colder day at a venue that stages most of its racing during the summer months.

However, rider Robbie Power found something to warm him up after the disappointing effort of Our Duke in Friday's Cheltenham Gold Cup, as the imposing Sumos Novios gave plenty of weight to his opponents to land the feature veterans handicap chase.

The son of Flemensfirth jumped and galloped his rivals into submission from the outset and was always in command in giving 23lb and a half-length beating to persistent challenger Undressed.
