Strike-rate king Lacey well worth following as Sir Egbert collects

The Tom Lacey bandwagon rolled on at Taunton as the trainer saddled his fifth winner from his last nine runners after Sir Egbert came from off the pace to collect the 2m½f handicap hurdle at the expense of Delface.

Herfordshire-based Lacey said: “It’s a case of long may it last for the yard. That is our 32nd winner of the season, which is very good as our previous best score was 21.

"I thought the very cold snaps we endured recently might take their toll but, if anything, the horses are running better as a result.”
