Stepper Point, second to Sole Power in a King's Stand and a Nunthorpe in his pomp three years ago, showed he was no back number winning on his first visit to the track.

The eight-year-old won a Group 3, beating Mecca's Angel, the following season but, as trainer William Muir explained, the sprinter suffered a fibrillating heart when pulled up behind that flying filly in the Nunthorpe.

"I told his owner it would take two years to get him back," said Muir, having had a similar experience with another sprinter Averti and pointing to Sprinter Sacre's resurrection.
