Spare Parts team bag another win as Pearl Spectre lands mile handicap

You can't keep a good team down and following the phenomenal run of Spare Parts this year the same combination of owner Steve Jakes, trainer Phil McEntee and jockey Nicola Currie landed the £10,000 mile handicap with Pearl Spectre.

In a race where few featured, the seven-year-old – who also won the race in 2016 when with Andrew Balding – raced handily and ran on in good style to hold the persistent challenge of Mama Africa by a length.

McEntee said: "He's getting a bit older and he needs a mile now. As usual Nicola gave him a brilliant ride. She's a very good jockey."
