Hugo Palmer is keen on a crack at Sandown's Group 3 Solario Stakes with easy novice winner Arbalet – and no wonder.

The stiff uphill seven furlongs will be right up the Dark Angel colt's street, and both trainer and owner have a soft spot for the race, Palmer having enjoyed his first Group success in it with Aktabantay in 2014, and Ibrahim Araci having owned both that colt and 2010 winner Native Khan.

Having cost €370,000 as a foal Arbalet was clearly expected to be above average, and on this evidence he has a bright future as he powered home three and a half lengths clear of Chelmsford second Barbarianatthegate.
