Trainer Lee Smyth relishes his trips across the Irish Sea and he proved to be the bookmakers’ pal as the unconsidered Glenbank King thwarted a gamble.

The 50-1 shot had little to recommend him on form but got up in the final strides to deny the heavily-backed Guitar Pete by a short head in the 1m5f handicap.

Smyth has made several forays from his base in Magheralin, County Down, this season and he said: “It’s my speciality coming over here and stealing a race.
