Smiles all round as Mary Salome provides Tylickis with a happy triumph

Flat racing in the traditional heart of the jumps scene in Cork rarely proves a draw for the locals, but the smattering who were in attendance on Wednesday were treated to happy scenes as former rider Freddy Tylicki witnessed his colours carried to victory for the first time.

Mary Salome, an 11,000gns yearling purchase, found plenty for pressure under Billy Lee to justify 5-2 favouritism in the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden.

Paralysed from the waist down following a fall on the all-weather at Kempton two years ago, Tylicki sported a broad smile as he wheeled back to the number-one spot in an official capacity for the first time since his riding career was brought to a premature end.
