Trainer Bryan Smart is hoping that he has the best of both worlds this week. While Thirsk sweltered in the heat of the indian summer with the fast ground ideal for his Mythmaker, Ayr in the West of Scotland was drenched with 15mm of rain in 24 hours which is just the ticket for his William Hill Ayr Gold Cup hope Nameitwhatyoulike.



Mythmaker, who runs in the colours of Crossfields Racing, was winning his first turf race of the season in the £11,500 6f handicap, showing plenty of courage to get the better of Vibrant Chords by a head, though he did edge slightly left so had to survive a stewards' inquiry.
