Sir Chauvelin the highlight as Tudhope underlines high status

Jockey Danny Tudhope scored a fine treble, led off in terms of both chronology and significance by Sir Chauvelin in the feature 1m4½f handicap.

The formerly dual-purpose Sir Chauvelin, who has not run over hurdles since April 2016, has proved better than ever on the Flat this year. After finding races such as the Northumberland Plate, Cambridgeshire and November Handicap too hot, he got back to winning ways at the chief expense of Rainbow Rebel, whom he beat by a length having led a furlong out.

Tudhope is increasingly a go-to jockey in the north and that was emphasised by the diversity of yards for which he rode a winner here.
