Even tough-as-teak Evan Williams found himself emotionally challenged after Silver Streak struck gold when comfortably landing the Welsh Champion Hurdle.

While 2017 winner The New One ran no sort of race, and possibly his last, it was the 3-1 joint-favourite who in the end was a convincing scorer.

Williams said: "I'm genuinely over the moon as I've always wanted to win this, whether it be at Chepstow, where it used to take place, or at Ffos Las, where it has been for the last few years.
