Shininstar proved just that for Lorna Brooke and filled the amateur jockey with joy after victory against the professionals in the 2m3½f novice handicap chase.

Brooke celebrated a second winner of the season aboard the John Groucott-trained and Belinda Clarke-owned ten-year-old, who responded to pressure after the last to score by a length and a half.

The winning rider, whose mother Lady Susan Brooke holds a trainer's permit, is set for her final campaign in the saddle next season and beamed from ear to ear in her post-race assessment, during which several jockeys congratulated her on their way into the weighing room.
