Ollie Sangster will look to step Artista up in class after she got off the mark at the second attempt in the 5f novice.

Owned by Nick Bradley Racing, the Caravaggio filly overcame a wide draw in stall ten to defeat Homestrait, who represents the same owners, by a length and three-quarters.

The Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley on May 24 and the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom on June 6 were floated as possible assignments for Artista, who is entered in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury in July.

Sangster said: "We fancied her on her debut at this track but she was given a bad draw in 12. She had a bad draw again, but she's taken a nice step forward and she'd be one of our speedier fillies.

"She could go back there for the Hilary Needler, but it's quite a quick turnaround, or go for the Woodcote. She could also go for a stakes race because I think she has that class. We'll see how she comes out of it, but she's quite talented."

It was Sangster's second win from seven juvenile runners this term.

He added: "We haven't run too many but they've been going well. The other winner we've had is Eternal Solace, who'll run on Friday at York in the Marygate."

Cool hand Luke

Luke Morris rode a double on the card, headlined by Coolree at 12-1 in the 1m½f handicap for Newmarket trainer Lemos de Souza.

The jockey then gave Sir Mark Prescott a first winner of the month when Analogical justified 8-13 favouritism in the 1m4f handicap.
