Sacred Ground was given a quote of 40-1 by Paddy Power to emulate her dam Anapurna by winning the Oaks.

The John and Thady Gosden-trained runner was slightly slow from the stalls in the mile fillies' novice contest, and showed signs of inexperience before charging from last to first in the final furlong under William Buick.

The 11-8 favourite had royal runner Food For Thought to pass in the closing stages and showed a good turn of foot to strike by three-quarters of a length.

She is already a step ahead of her dam, who was beaten on her debut at Wolverhampton before winning twice in the lead up to her 2019 Epsom victory under Frankie Dettori.

Buick told Sky Sports Racing: "We're very happy with what she did there. She's a beautifully bred filly and she's only going to get better next year. She was a proper professional there and did the job really well."

The jockey was also on the mark on impressive Godolphin three-year-old newcomer Blue Nazare who landed the other mile fillies' novice on the card by five and a half lengths.

"She did the job really well," Buick said. "She'd been doing some nice bits [of work] at home but it's her first run and a very pleasing performance. I really like her."

Blue Nazare completed a treble for Buick, which kicked off when McMurray netted a hat-trick in a match race for the mile nursery.

The Mehmas colt continued George Boughey's good form. He gave the trainer a fourth winner from his last five runners.
