'She's a very exciting filly' - Group 1s next for Waardah after Lillie Langtry win for Owen Burrows

Waardah looks set for an exciting end to the season after taking both a rise in grade and a step up in trip in her stride to win the Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes for Owen Burrows and Callum Rodriguez.
Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum's three-year-old daughter of Postponed was last seen winning at Listed level over a mile and a quarter at Goodwood, but it was clear from her defeat of the reappearing Danielle that it is more than an affinity with the South Downs that saw her to a third success in five starts.
"Callum said she switched off great and in hindsight he probably got there a little bit too soon," said Burrows. "We're still learning about her but I thought she was very honest. I think she'd have no problem coming back to a mile and a half and I think she's a very exciting filly.
"She's always shown up well at home and it was no surprise she won first time out. She's been a bit keen but I felt she'd come forward from her last run and thought we'd roll the dice today."

Paddy Power cut Waardah into 12-1 (from 25) for the Pertemps Yorkshire Oaks on August 21, although Burrows warned he wouldn't want the ground to come up too quick for her on the Knavesmire.
"She's in the Yorkshire Oaks and I think it's important she gets a bit of juice in the ground," said Burrows. "If she came out of this okay and York came up with a bit of juice, then we'd have to consider it. Ascot in October would clearly suit her too. Our horses have really turned the corner over the last month."
It's Al Aasy again
Al Aasy became the first horse since the Dick Hern-trained Capstan in 1982 to retain the Group 3 Coral Glorious Stakes, as Jim Crowley counted all the way to ten before easing the eight-year-old past Meydaan for a comfortable success.
William Haggas has often been called on to defend Shadwell's veteran, although a remarkable eighth win at Group 3 level suggests his record ought to speak for itself.
"He's been called some names in the past and I wish people would respect him for what he is," said Haggas. "He's a very talented horse; he just needs to be ridden like that; wait and wait and wait.

"He's a very strong traveller, so you can imagine at home, when we don't get them off the bridle, he looks like Nijinsky every time. He's so reliable at home. He catches the eye every morning, so he's been a joy for us.
"He's a beautiful horse. Don't overdo them when they're young and don't run them on ground that doesn't suit them. You have to look after them and keep them in the right grade. He's fine doing what he's doing."
Crowley and the Shadwell team were back in the winner's enclosure after the Whispering Angel Handicap over 7f when Mudbir beat the fast-finishing Dance In The Storm by a short head for John and Thady Gosden, although connections had to survive a stewards' inquiry into possible interference.
It was Crowley's 100th winner at Goodwood.
Hawkens on the up

Although it would be asking a lot for Sam Hawkens to have as long and fruitful a career as Al Aasy, the Haggas team have another progressive type on their hands after the four-year-old followed up wins at Newcastle and Hamilton with success in the 1m6f Coral Summer Handicap.
Tom Marquand said: "They went very slow early and we were nicely positioned. Because he's got a good mind you can park him up there and he'll switch off. I was confident he's not as slow as he's made himself look a couple of times.
"When I saw I had Colin [Keane] in front of me [on Aeronautic], I was just trying to get a tow off him for as long as I could because he doesn't do an awful lot in front. With 8st 10lb on his back it probably made timing it right a bit easier."
