Formel Park clocked her first win in the 2m½f handicap chase as trainer Evan Williams looked towards broodmare prospects.

The five-year-old mare looked a certain winner at Ludlow before falling two from home, but put things to rights on her second chasing attempt. Sent off at 3-1, and despite looking hesitant over some fences, she won under Conor Ring by just under two lengths.

"She's a cute little girl," said WIlliams. "I thought she would have won a race before by now, but we're very grateful. Through no fault of anybody's, it was just a bit slippery at Ludlow and that's the way it went.

"It was very important for the pedigree that she won a race, and she's by the right daddy and has a deep enough pedigree. She's still a young mare and there's every chance she could be going forward in the spring."

Formel Park is a daughter of Walk In The Park, the leading jumps sire in Britain and Ireland for the last two seasons, and is a half-sister to hurdling winner Out Of The Loop.

La Zoubida's winning debut

La Zoubida justified 13-8 favouritism on her first start over obstacles in the 2m4f maiden hurdle.

Trained by Nicky Richards, the five-year-old mare was last seen finishing midfield in a Grade 2 bumper at the Aintree festival and made a promising start hurdling under Sean Quinlan when battling on gamely to beat Girl Of Gold by a length.
