'She tries very hard' - Incrimination impresses on debut for Ger Lyons
Wednesday: Dundalk
Juvenile maidens at Dundalk in December don't always yield the highest-quality winners but Ger Lyons looks to have a useful operator in Incrimination, who created a fine impression when winning on her debut over 6f.
Coming home strongly under Colin Keane to overhaul 11-8 favourite National Gallery, the daughter of 2010 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Blame struck by half a length at odds of 9-4.
Owned and bred by Newtown Anner Stud, Incrimination is out of a winning sister to Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks winner Singhalese.
"She's a grand little filly," Keane told Racing TV. "There's not a whole pile of her but she's got a very willing attitude and tries very hard."
He added: "We didn't go a mad pace and it was a sprint from the bottom of the straight. She was a little green, but when she got it together I thought she hit the line well."
Roche on a roll
Leigh Roche is set to tie the knot with fiancee Shauna on Saturday and was given reason to start the celebrations early as he registered a 22-1 surprise win in the opening claimer aboard House Of Kings.
Trained by Noel Kelly, the winner was reportedly claimed for €7,000 by James McAuley afterwards, having been picked up by Kelly for €5,000 out of a claimer last week.
Roche said: "I got caught in a pocket turning in and had to sit and wait, but he picked up when we got out there and did it nicely."
