'She seemed a little bit too classy for the rest' - Royal Fixation delights on debut

On a day when attention was on Royal Ascot, there was another regal thrill in North Yorkshire when Royal Fixation delivered on her debut in the 6f fillies' novice stakes.
The Palace Pier filly was purchased for 180,000gns by Opulence Thoroughbreds and made the eight-hour round trip from Ed Walker's yard well worth it with success at the first attempt.
The 5-2 shot travelled comfortably and responded well when George Downing asked her to quicken, scoring by a length over the odds-on Mandarin Spirit.
Downing told Racing TV: "She did things quite effortlessly through the first half of the race, and I thought she finished off her race well. She seemed a little bit too classy for the rest of them."
Double for Danny
Daniel Tudhope rode two winners to give himself a timely confidence boost ahead of 11 booked rides at Royal Ascot.
The first success came on handicapper Blue Anthem, who struck on his first attempt over five furlongs for trainer George Boughey.
Tudhope said: "He won over seven, so coming back to the minimum trip is always a concern, but he jumped out great and travelled super. When I asked him to pick up, he was there."
The jockey then partnered Blue Rc to a commanding four-length victory in the 7f handicap, an impressive performance from the lightly raced three-year-old.
Well handicapped and progressive since his winning debut three weeks ago, the favourite travelled powerfully throughout and pulled clear of runner-up Vince Le Prince in the final stages.
