The Athasi Stakes, usually run at the Curragh in May, and the Glencairn Stakes, normally run at Leopardstown in June, ended up taking place at Naas on November 1. It really has been that sort of year.

The timing, though, proved perfect for the William Haggas-trained filly With Thanks, who appreciated the ever more testing ground on offer throughout the day when scoring convincingly in the Athasi Stakes.

It would have been quite an average Group 3 in her absence and this performance more than suggested a race in a higher grade could be hers granted soft ground.
