Gordon Elliott thought he was fortunate to have won, while most observers couldn't say with any degree of certainty, but the record books will show the Elliott-trained Shattered Love ran out a 13-length winner of the Grade 3 Coolmore Soldier Of Fortune Mares Novice Hurdle under Jack Kennedy when left clear by the final flight fall of main rival Asthuria.

Results and analysis

To say it was nip and tuck coming to the final flight is something of an understatement as there was absolutely nothing between the two mares as they took off at the final flight, but Asthuria nosedived under Paul Townend.
