It was quite appropriate in the end that the feature Boreen Belle Mares Novice Hurdle was partly sponsored by the local Horse & Jockey Hotel, as one of the attractions of that establishment is the Gift Horse Gallery and a Christmas present certainly came a week early for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy with the victory of Shattered Love.

She may well have scored anyway as she was travelling equally well when left clear by the fall of the Willie Mullins-trained odds-on favourite Asthuria at the third last, but any doubt was removed at that point and in the end she coasted home to beat sole remaining rival Kalopsia by 37 lengths.
