Horses such as Australia Day are not easily replaced but Paul Webber might just have unearthed a possible successor to his former stable star after New Agenda blitzed his rivals from the front to land the 2m novice hurdle.

Similar to Australia Day, New Agenda does not like to hang around in his races but experience is helping him to channel his eagerness and his hurdling was a joy to watch under Tom O’Brien.

“He’s grown up so much and is relaxing now,” said Webber, having watched the Juddmonte cast-off defeat the well-fancied Hatcher by six lengths, with a further three and a quarter lengths back to Champion Bumper sixth Dans Le Vent.
