Sam goes on a Bear hunt and slays long odds-on backers

It has been an expensive week for those who like to bet at ultra-short odds.

A 1.01 shot on Betfair got the wrong end of a photo-finish at Carlisle on Monday and the Nicky Henderson-trained Follow The Bear was overturned at 1-14 in the 2m4½f novice hurdle here.

The favourite travelled strongly in the lead for much of the way but was joined at the final flight by Ian Williams' 12-1 shot Adman Sam, who was returning from a 481-day break but sprinted clear on the run-in for a length-and-a-half win.
