The Class 6 hunter chase will probably not be remembered as one for the ages, but Sam Jukes will certainly not forget it as he recorded his first British winner under rules when guiding Rye Cross to a length-and-three-quarter verdict over Master Sunrise.

Handy until pressing on from the 11th, the 4-1 winner was urged along two out by his amateur rider, who may have had a moment of worry as the 7-4 favourite Master Sunrise threatened to run on.

However, Jukes was able to celebrate as the ten-year-old held on.
