Ryan Moore was successful on his second ride back from injury aboard Lazzar in the 6f novice stakes and later doubled up on Morrophore in the Winter Oaks Trial.

Moore had been absent since August after sustaining a stress fracture to his leg, with Christophe Soumillon deputising for him at Ballydoyle, and it did not take him long to regain the winning thread.

Lazzar, a Richard Hughes-trained three-year-old, was well supported in the market and broke smartly before seeing off the attentions of Tokyo Joe to score by half a length. He was shedding his maiden tag at the tenth attempt.

Moore had nearly partnered a winner on his first ride back as his mount Sovereign Wealth looked in control before succumbing to Chale Chalo late on in the opening 7f nursery.

"It's been a while, so it's good to be back," Moore told Sky Sports Racing.

Asked if he was looking forward to riding in Hong Kong next week, he said: "We have some runners there on the Sunday and I'll be riding at Happy Valley [in the International Jockeys' Challenge on Wednesday], so I'm looking forward to that."

The topweight Morrophore made it a double for the rider when scoring in the feature fillies' handicap, producing a smart turn of foot to run down Frances Ethel. The John and Thady Gosden-trained runner was winning for the third time for owner-breeder George Strawbridge.

"It would have been nice to be more forward but we had cover and I was able to get a nice tow," said Moore. "She's progressive, and a nice, big, scopey filly, and she'll probably get a bit further. She was well enough in today."

Moore is expected to return to the Group 1 stage at Sha Tin on Sunday week when partnering the Aidan O'Brien-trained duo The Lion In Winter and Los Angeles in the Hong Kong Mile and Hong Kong Vase respectively.
