Royal winner Kincardine looks likely to take high rank after bumper strike
Nico de Boinville, Nicky Henderson and the Queen celebrated a double initiated by Kincardine, who ran out an impressive winner of the 2m bumper.
Homebred by the Queen out of a Norse Dancer mare, Kincardine hails from an excellent jumping family and looked professional on his racecourse debut.
De Boinville said: "It was great to have a good pace to aim at and I think that will turn out to be a good bumper in time. He showed plenty of toe there and was only doing enough in front."
Rapid Flight broke his maiden at the fourth time of asking after making all to beat Sounds Russian by a length and a quarter in the 2m4½f maiden hurdle.
Credit to Brennan
Fergal O'Brien gave jockey Paddy Brennan the training credit after Coole Well made a winning debut for his new connections in the opening 2m handicap chase.
The eight-year-old joined the O'Brien team last month after being sold by Caroline and Max Kendrick but has since been in the care of Brennan at his home.
O'Brien said: "I take very little credit for this as Paddy has done more or less all the hard work with him. We've had him for four weeks and he's been at Paddy's that whole time. We'll drop him back to Paddy's after this and give him a little rest before getting him back in about three or four weeks."
It became an even better day's work for O’Brien and Brennan as they went on to combine for a treble. Byzantine Empire took the 2m novice hurdle and As High Say romped home in the concluding handicap hurdle.
