Royal Lytham worth a nibble at 33-1 for next year's Guineas

Time will tell but my initial reaction after the July Stakes was the race could be an important marker for the remainder of the season and beyond.

Royal Lytham narrowly came out on top and I'm slightly surprised his odds did not contract further for next year's 2,000 Guineas. The standout 33-1 with Ladbrokes looks worthy of a small investment, given his sire Gleneagles was a dual Guineas winner.

A step up to seven furlongs for Royal Lytham will be no problem as he was at the rear of the field approaching the dip before picking up nicely when hitting the rising ground.
