Chequered View and connections after winning the mares' handicap hurdle at Fakenham

As Sandringham is just up the road and Prince Charles is patron of Fakenham, locals like nothing more than a royal winner at the course and Chequered View duly obliged for the Princess Royal in the 3m mares' chase.

The 13-8 chance was given a cool ride by Patrick Cowley despite the presence of the Richard Johnson-ridden favourite Black Tulip and went clear on the final lap to land a second course win.

Trainer Martin Keighley said: "The Princess is owner-breeder of Chequered View but won't know much about this yet as she's on a plane, but her daughter Zara has already texted me, so she'll pass the news on. This mare is one of two I have in training for Her Highness with the other, Cloud Formation, due to run in a bumper shortly."
