Royal Ascot next for Briardale after easy Zetland Gold Cup win

On paper it looked a competitive handicap, but in reality it was nothing of the sort as the progressive Briardale romped home unchallenged in the £25,000 Zetland Gold Cup.

Sent off at 6-1 in the nine-horse field, the five-year-old made all and from some way out it was clear that he and Paul Hanagan were going to take some catching.

Nothing could get to them as once asked for an effort he drew even further away to pass the post six lengths clear of Rainbow Rebel, with Euchen Glen back in third.
